I have been practicing oil-painting since I started my career. A few years ago I came up with the idea of integrating my illusion painting skills into my regular painting, which has opened a whole new world of possibilities. It's not easy, but when you managed to create a painting that actually fools the viewer, that is a lot of fun.
Lately I have had a lot of problems staying inside the frame. Sometimes you will find the subject of the painting hanging out a little!
Working with water color is always an interesting challenge. In my paintings I mix techniques, sometimes using a very watery color mix were you have to be very fast and not so controlled, sometimes using a very precise and detailed painting technique. This may show how I am as a person - sometimes very patient able to spend lots of time on details, sometimes not patient at all.
Most of the pictures are from an old house we restored some years back. It was very fun to feel free to test all different techniques included. The gallery shows a totally flat steel door painted as an oak door, wolves painted on the foundation of the house, our cat painted directly on the wall using an airbrush and a stipple painting of a statue directly on the wall in the bathroom. When thinking about all this I almost start crying, as the house has since burned down and is now totally gone. It is very sad.
Sometimes you are contacted and asked to do some very special jobs, like illustrating books. The pictures shown are from the memory book – “40 år med Systembolaget”. Systembolaget is the government run retailer of alcohol in Sweden. Over the years the personnel have collected and stored stories, and the best ones were collected into a book for the 40 year anniversary. The book had 40 stories, each with an illustration like the three examples shown.
